Our first official look at gameplay from The Surge shows an updated build. Technically, this isn’t our first look at The Surge gameplay. Some leaked gameplay footage from a behind-closed-doors event appeared earlier this year. At E3 2016 this week, however, developer Deck 13 showed more confidence, bringing an updated demo to show the game off to attendees. In the video below, IGN sits down with the game’s tech lead and Deck 13’s managing director to walk us through an early part of the game. Right off the bat, you can definitely see Lords of the Fallen (and Dark Souls) influence on the combat. The Surge allows you to target individual limbs, which is also being shown here. Particularly exciting are the dashing/dodging moves he can pull off, especially the slide-into-a-hit one.
